A Second Week of Firsts

Last Wednesday Tristan started Pre-K right across the street from Grace's school - the school he will attend just one short year from now.  It's hard for me to believe that he's going to start Kindergarten next year.  I was thrilled to find out that the preschool program that he is attending actually uses  a pre-k curriculum!  The Child Development Center preschool that Grace went to did not use that curriculum and it was basically just supervised play, as their "thing" was that children learn by playing.  My "thing" is that children aren't going to learn their alphabet  and numbers unless you put it in front of them...  I'm still doing the Letter of the Week curriculum with him, but I'm so happy to know that he's learning at "school" too!

Tristan found a worm on the way in.

Signing himself in.
Something they are supposed to do daily to practice writing and spelling their name.

Next they have to wash their hands.

He was so excited that they have a fish in their class.

Then on Thursday he had his very first soccer practice.  He was so excited!!!  He's been wanting to play soccer since Grace played last year, and initially we thought that he wasn't going to get to play this year, but at the last moment we found out that they did have teams for 4 year olds.  From the moment we signed him up he asked, "Mommy, today I get to play soccer?"  Every day he asked this until I finally said yes.

He had such a good time!
He didn't do too bad either.  He just needs to remember to keep the ball close to him or pass it to a teammate (instead of blasting it as hard as he can).

I couldn't resist this picture!
Love the blonde "afro"!

Break time!

Love the face!

I'd say Tristan had a pretty good week!  He's so excited to be doing things like his big sister is doing.  I guess he's officially a big boy now.
