PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A SENSITIVE STOMACH OR AN AVERSION TO STRANGE FOODS, DO NOT READ THIS POST!
After another full day of touring Beijing, we went to a food market where they cooked and sold exotic foods. Not really knowing what to expect, I was amazed at what some people call "food".
Baby sharks
I don't know what all of this is, but I'm sure if you could think of something off the wall to eat, they would've had it here.
This I think I could've managed eating...
This stuff, not so much...
Here's what one of the stands had to offer.
(At the time we were there, $1 was equal to about 6 yuen)
These must be the crickets that lost in the cricket fights...
Scorpions - and guess who's going to eat one...
He said it tasted like the crispy part of fried chicken.
I really, really, really wanted to try one, and thought I had myself talked into it, but when it came right down to it, I couldn't. The thought of it just made my stomach turn.
Number two, down the hatch.
Grace stuck with fruit.
All I can say is it's a good thing we filled up here before we headed to the food market!
I am proud to say that this is the first time we have eaten at McDonald's in at least 2 years.
A Chinese Big Mac.

Go David!! A friend and I just had crickets a couple weeks ago. They were sautéed with garlic, potatoes and chili. Not bad. The restaurant also serves scorpions, so after hearing David's summary, I think I'll give them a try!
