Silk Factory

After the Forbidden City, we headed to lunch at a restaurant in a beautiful park.  Here are some of the sites we saw along our way.
Rickshaw
Three wheeled cars
A really cute baby :)
I would've liked to had some time to stroll around this park and it looked beautiful and a lot of flowers were starting to bloom
Another beautiful girl

After we had lunch we headed over to a silk market (where David and I shot our wad :/ )
Silk worms, in their cocoon and after they've turned into moths.
On the left is what they harvest from a single silkworm's cocoon - asingle thread, fine like hair.
On the right is what happens if two or more silkworms cocoons attach together - a tangled mess, yet they still use it for their silk fill.
Cocoons
The silk "thread" is spun onto these wheels as it is undone from the cocoon
Stretching out the "tangled" fibers into a comforter
The kids getting a chance to help.
All the beautiful silk threads dyed and woven into beautiful duvets.
This is where David and I went hog wild - buying a comforter, pillows, a duvet and pillow shams.
And here they are - this picture doesn't do it justice.
It is a rich olive green with black Chinese characters on it, with a touch of red.
