The Streets of China

Another of our adventures took us around the streets of an old Chinese neighborhood on rickshaws.
We even got in an accident!
David and Grace were behind us and their driver ran right up under our rear wheel.  I don't know if he wasn't paying attention or if his brakes somehow failed him, but he was pretty mortified.
This is a painting above the entrance to a home.  The pictures signify something about their occupation, and the four stars indicate their place in society, with four stars being just a step below royalty.
This is the courtyard area of an old home we went to.  Typically there were four homes with entrances to a courtyard that they all shared.
This guy raises crickets to fight, and is a highly decorated champion cricket fighter.
He was hilarious.  Very animated when he spoke, and you could tell that he loves what he does (even though we might've thought it was crazy).
One of his crickets was worth $10,000.  No, I didn't type that wrong, it's a 1 with four zeros behind it.  For an insect that only has a lifespan of about 100 days.
He also raises gigantic grasshoppers.  Can you see how big Grace's eyes are?
It is neat to see people together as a community - something you don't see nearly enough of in the States.
