Mekong Delta, Part 2

More scenes from the river on our way to the coconut candy making "factory".
A huge temple in the background
A resort you can stay at.
Fish traps.
When at high tide the fish swim in, and when low tide arrives, they are trapped.

Thom telling us about the process for making coconut candy.
First, you get the flesh out of the coconut.
That's a whole lot of coconut shells!
Then the flesh is pressed to get the oil out.
Coconut milk is boiled with sugar and various other ingredients.
Stretching the candy into strips and cutting it into smaller, bite size pieces.
Wrapping the pieces in rice paper and then the outer wrapper that tells what flavor the candy is.

WARNING! FOR ANY OF YOU (MOTHER) WHO DON'T LIKE SNAKES...

There are snakes in some of the pictures that follow.  View at your own risk.

Cobra wine.
Yes, that is a cobra in that bottle.
David had said that he wanted to see a cobra so he could touch it on the head like the fools do on TV.  The closest thing they could get for us to see was a huge python.
Grace was a little nervous at first, but not my cool, calm Tristan - he wanted to hold it by himself.
Then they made me hold it - but I refused to kiss it!
An old grave
We took a horse cart ride to the dock where we were to meet our next boat
Tristan with our tour guide, Thom
Enjoying coconut water

After our boat rides, we headed back to the Mekong Rest Stop for dinner.

I don't think I will ever tire of fresh fruit juice!
Showing us how to make spring rolls
Grace will decorate anything!
To include the little knot holes in trees.
Our bridge

It was a very enjoyable day and we came home with lots of delicious coconut candy!
