Naomi Mae - Month 2

Here's a "few" snapshots of Naomi during her second month.
Chillin'
So strong!
Navy girl.
Tristan took this picture - apparently she likes the idea of lolipops and playing the DS
Very much a daddy's girl
(and we wonder why she won't sleep in her bassinet at night!)
One of her first smiles
Daddy making her make faces
She LOVES her bath!

She is a really good baby and spoils us most nights by sleeping through the night.

Second Grade!

Today was Grace's first day of Second grade!
Waiting for the elevator.
Being escorted to school by her brother.
Grace was selected to be in a split grade classroom, so she is in a class with 6 other second graders, and 7 third graders.
During the meet the teacher night, we were informed that all of the second graders were hand picked to be in her class because they were good students and known to be "self-starters".  Needless to say that made her father and I very proud.

She was a bit anxious about starting second grade, saying she was afraid that it was going to be too hard.  But, when I picked her up she said that she had had a great day and there was no reason at all for her to have been "frightened".

Day 22 - Trees
Day 23 - Sunset
Day 24 - A smile
Day 25 - Sunflare
This one I had no idea about,  The only sunflare I had ever heard of was off of the sun!  Thankfully our fearless group leader filled us in on what a sunflare is in photography terms.

Day 17 - On the shelf
Day 18 - In my bag
Day 19 - Where I slept

I don't have a photo for day 20, which was what I read, as the house is a wreck because of our upcoming move.

Necessary Chaos

Our number has finally come up for family housing on post!  Hooray!!!  We are very excited since we will be close to everything we use on a regular basis, and have many friends in the same building.  The downside is having to unpack and find a place for everything again.  And we have to live in chaos for a while because the majority of our furniture is borrowed, and they came to get it today - which means I had to:
unload our dressers
take all the books off the bookshelves,
and the kids no longer have beds to sleep in.

Oh well, at least it's only for three days!

This is one of the rice paddies we drive by daily

Happy 102nd Birthday Grandma Millie!

Though we cannot be there to celebrate with her, we made Grandma Millie a cake for her 102nd birthday.  Yep, you read right, 102!  We would love to take this cake to Chicago and eat it with her (Grace even suggested covering it with foil and putting it in a box to take with us), and allow her to meet her newest grandchild, but with the cost of airfare these days it just isn't feasable.

Tristan chose a strawberry cake and wanted to make a three tiered cake - a circle on the bottom, square in the middle, and circle to top it off.  Then it was time to decorate it...
Grace putting a flower on top
The finished product - isn't it lovely? ;)
We even had candles, though we hesitated to put all 102 on the cake!

Unfortunately we haven't been able to see Grandma since her 100th birthday, but in speaking with one of my cousins, she seems to have her wits about her most of the time, and enjoys visiting with her sister when she visits.  I know Grandma is anxious to go home to Jesus, but for some reason He has not called her home yet.  Please keep her in your prayers - that she remains comfortable and healthy until Jesus brings her home to Him.

Happy Birthday Grandma Millie!  We love you and miss you!

30 Day Photo Challenge - Part 2

Day 6: Childhood Memory
Day 7: Something New
Day 8: Technology
We don't have a whole lot of techy gadgets around as we're not real technologically savvy, but I do have my Nook.
Day 9: Faceless Self Portrait
I really wasn't inspired with this prompt, but some of my friends had some really cool ideas.
Day 10: Something I made
In this case, somethings, as I made the skirt and the girl. :)

Vacation Bible School

The kids had VBS this week at the chapel here on post.  It was a New York City theme, with Romans 10:17 as the main verse for the week:"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Grace with her crew
Tristan and his crew
Chaplain Chun talking with the kids
Singin' and dancin'

VBS came at just the right time as I really needed time to go through our "stuff" before we move.  It was hard for me to not participate, but with Naomi only being a month old I figured it would be best to take this year off - after all, these days it can be difficult enough to get done what needs to be done around the house!

Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial

While we were at the wreath laying ceremony, David spoke with a Dutch family who was able to give us information on how to find where his gr...
