Splish-n-Splash

We have been trying to squeeze the last little bit of summer out of our water park here.  We have had a beautiful summer, but now that we've had the time to go to the pool, the rains have really kicked in and the temperatures have cooled down.
Awaiting the water drop
Naomi has really taken to the water and loves to run around and "swim" in it.

David's battalion rented the pool out one night to celebrate the end of a two week long exercise.
The kids had fun for a good 45 minutes to an hour, but then Tristan was frozen and was ready to go home... and so was Naomi.  Grace would've stayed all night if we would have let her, but we decided long ago that blue kids don't need to be in the water anymore.
This isn't a terrific picture, but she loves the little water slide they have and will go down as many times as you'll let her.

We have enjoyed the water park here SO much over the last 3 summers.  It's gonna be a let down for the kids no matter where we are next summer because they won't have so many different options in one place that they can go to just about any time they want to.

Typhoon Bolaven

The kids and I decided to get up and go outside before the weather got bad yesterday.  We had some wind and a little bit of rain through the night, but not much other than that.
The clouds rolling in.
It's a little windy...
Other than a turned over trash can, this was the only damage we found.

David got sent home in anticipation of a bad storm, so after we finished up school, we spent the day playing games, baking, and just hanging out and enjoying another day with David home.  It was really nice to have a day that we couldn't go anywhere so there was no pressure of feeling like we needed to get out of the house and do something.
This is what I live with on a daily basis... Do you feel sorry for me?
Our typhoon trash cookies.
The commissary was even closed, but I really wanted cookies (every time the weather gets nasty I remember baking cookies with my mom and feel the need to do the same), so I just rummaged in the pantry and used what we had.  Some chocolate chips, M&Ms, a few pecans, and some coconut.
Mmmmmm...
Naomi and Daddy reading their books.
Naomi isn't quite as high tech as her daddy - she's sticking to the board books for a bit longer.

The typhoon quickly turned into a tropical storm and didn't do much damage in our area, though it did kill 8 south of us.  We mostly got a bunch of wind.  Now we're looking at another tropical storm headed our way on Thursday.  We'll see what that has in store for us!

Augusta West Golfing

Tristan has been begging to go golfing for some time now, and we finally had a day when it wasn't blazing hot or pouring down rain, and David was off early enough to join us!
Golfing with Naomi added an elelment of difficulty to the game
As if the water hazards weren't enough!
But we found she was great at retreiving balls for us.
More fishing
Teamwork always helps

VBS

We finished our school year up last week, and are enjoying a week of Vacation Bible School.  I'm volunteering in the snack and missions room so I don't have my camera with me, but here's a few pictures I snapped before we all went our separate directions.
Crazy hair day
Hawaiian day.
I'm proud to say that I made Tristan's shirt and Grace's dress.  I love living where fabric and sewing  supplies are so cheap!  And I've discovered elastic thread is really easy to use so I see lots of smocked items in the girls' future!

Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial

While we were at the wreath laying ceremony, David spoke with a Dutch family who was able to give us information on how to find where his gr...
