Typhoon Bolaven

The kids and I decided to get up and go outside before the weather got bad yesterday.  We had some wind and a little bit of rain through the night, but not much other than that.
The clouds rolling in.
It's a little windy...
Other than a turned over trash can, this was the only damage we found.

David got sent home in anticipation of a bad storm, so after we finished up school, we spent the day playing games, baking, and just hanging out and enjoying another day with David home.  It was really nice to have a day that we couldn't go anywhere so there was no pressure of feeling like we needed to get out of the house and do something.
This is what I live with on a daily basis... Do you feel sorry for me?
Our typhoon trash cookies.
The commissary was even closed, but I really wanted cookies (every time the weather gets nasty I remember baking cookies with my mom and feel the need to do the same), so I just rummaged in the pantry and used what we had.  Some chocolate chips, M&Ms, a few pecans, and some coconut.
Mmmmmm...
Naomi and Daddy reading their books.
Naomi isn't quite as high tech as her daddy - she's sticking to the board books for a bit longer.

The typhoon quickly turned into a tropical storm and didn't do much damage in our area, though it did kill 8 south of us.  We mostly got a bunch of wind.  Now we're looking at another tropical storm headed our way on Thursday.  We'll see what that has in store for us!
